A commercial scheme in Holmfirth delivered as principal contractor, on a constrained site running directly onto a public highway. Managing access, hoarding and traffic management safely was as much a part of the job as the build itself.
New structural steelwork was installed across the existing stone walls to carry a completely new timber roof. Rafters, purlins and trusses were set out and cut on site to suit the existing walls, which were rarely square or level.
The building was finished in natural stone slate over the new structure, with the stonework made good and new rainwater goods installed, so the completed restaurant sits in the street as though it had always been there.
